Vibe Middle East, The Entertainment Agency, today announced the confirmation of Hip Hop act Black Eyed Peas to perform on September 6th at the Dubai Airport Expo presented by Nokia. The Black Eyed Peas have swept the music industry with their distinctive flavor of hip hop and dance music with their Platinum selling album “Elephunk”. The album spawned four massive global top ten singles: ‘Where is the love’, ‘Hey Mamma’, ‘Shut Up’ and Grammy Award winning ‘Let’s Get It Started’.
“This concert is going to be the biggest yet to come to Dubai with 12,000 people capacity to accommodate for the crowd. They have grabbed more Grammy’s than anybody and are number 1 in the charts in most continents.” said Yassin Matbouly, Managing Director Vibe Middle East. “We are already getting bookings for the show and we have not even announced it officially yet. This is definitely one of the biggest if not the biggest concert of 2005 for Dubai.”
Since they started, the Black Eyed Peas have been an innovating force in R&B, Hip Hop and appeal to everybody, with that rarely found ability to bring together and combine influences from so many other genres including dance hall and R’n’B. The best live act, shared with the world during the Live 8 concert broadcast from Philadelphia, the Black Eyed Peas will set a new standard for Dubai’s increasingly vibrant entertainment scene.
Starting their career in breakdance, Black Eyed Peas members will.i.am and apl.de.ap were part of a break dancing crew, Tribal Nation in high school. Soon after, will.i.am and apl.de.ap took their vibe to the music industry and began focusing on making their first album. Over the next few years, the group grew to include all 4 members and “Elephunk” was created. With positive political messages and buoyant dance beats, The Black Eyed Peas have sold over 7.5 million albums worldwide, received 4 Grammy nominations and 1 Grammy award.
The group’s latest album “Monkey Business” has taken their music to an entirely new level. With single ‘Don’t Phunk With My Heart’ already hitting the top 10 spots and collaborations with artists like Justin Timberlake, Sting and James Brown the album is expected to be even more popular than “Elephunk”.
