Vibe, the leading event management agency, today announced the launch of the LIFE Music Festival. The festival is to be headlined by legendary R&B group, Boyz II Men, performing live in concert for the first time in the UAE. Boyz II Men first shot to super-stardom in the 1990s, recorded five #1 chart hits and today have sold over 90 million albums worldwide, making them the most commercially successful R&B group of all time. International DJs Pete Tong and Claude Challe complete the line up for LIFE’s first event and will continue to entertain throughout the night with their original mixes. LIFE, planned to be the biggest indoor music festival series in the region, will begin on Thursday 10th May at the MPV, Madinat Jumeirah from 9pm to 3am.
“LIFE is quite simply going to be a massive hit, with six hours of non-stop class A nighttime entertainment from the world’s most famous R&B groups and DJs,” said Yassin Matbouly, managing director of Vibe Middle East, the event management agency. Boyz II Men have already been on tour for much of this year playing to sold out concerts in Australia, China, North America and across Asia.
“We’re creating a totally new and revolutionary festival concept for this region, combining the talents of international artists and DJs for a unique through the night entertainment experience,” said Matbouly. “The LIFE Music Festival will be the biggest indoor music festival series in the Middle East. We expect our concerts to be second to none, with smooth access, safety, and ample taxis available: all for a smooth and enjoyable LIFE experience!”
Boyz II Men was founded as an R&B singing group in 1988 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and first signed to Motown Records during the early 1990s. Three of their #1 hits, “End of the Road”, “I’ll Make Love to You”, and “One Sweet Day” set and broke records for the longest period of time a single remained at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group has released over six top-selling albums and has sold more than 90 million albums and 50 million singles in total.
Boyz II Men are truly one of the most talented groups to visit the region. The group has a proven record of success in the music industry and it was their incredible hit ‘End of the Road’ that managed to break Elvis Presley’s ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ record as the longest running single at #1. The Group then ended up breaking their own record with their phenomenal single, ‘One Sweet Day’, featuring Mariah Carey and then earned the prestigious Riar Diamond Award for the album, II, which sold over 14 million copies. Having earned a host of Grammys and awards, Boyz II Men are considered to be one of the most successful male vocal groups of all time.
During the last two years Vibe has held more public events and shows in the region than any other event management agency, with successes including Jamiroquai, Julio Iglesias, Joaquin Cortes, Lionel Richie, Black Eyed Peas, the Shaolin Monks and Sean Paul. Lionel Richie and Black Eyed Peas concerts were both finalists in the 2006 What’s On Awards.
The Life Music Festival doors will open at 7pm and the live music concert will begin at 9 pm on the night followed by International DJs, Pete Tong and Claude Challe playing live music until 3:00 am. The organisers request that attendees do not drive and use taxis for a safer journey.
