Dubai, 24th August 2005
Vibe Middle East, the region’s leading entertainment agency, today announced that on November 24th and 25th the Shaolin Monks will be performing at the prestigious MPV at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. With “Wheel of Life”, The Shaolin Monks, famous for being the creators of Kung Fu, travel the world showcasing their incredible physical talent born through life-long training, discipline and spirituality.
“The Shaolin Monks in tandem with an international team of theatre professionals have created a stunning show woven with the reality and rich cultural traditions of the Shaolin Temple’s history,” said Yassin Matbouly, Managing Director Vibe Middle East. “This show is one of my personal favorites and I can’t wait for opening night. Dubai will be stunned, amazed and rendered speechless by the visual tempest that is this show. Coming to Dubai from the Royal Albert Hall in London, this is a must-see for all ages to enjoy.”
‘The Wheel of Life’ showcases Shaolin Kung Fu at its very best, and is the only show to have received the approval and blessing of Shaolin Master, The Venerable Shi Yong Xin, Fangzhang (First Abbot) of the Temple as well as the Henan Provincial Government. It is also the first show to feature ordained Soldier Monks of the Shaolin Temple. An extravaganza of high technology lighting, dramatic stage sets and music set the mood for an evening of stunning acrobatic fighting moves weaving a tale of war, revolution and triumph.
The Shaolin Monks’ come from a two thousand year tradition of peace, harmony and spirituality forged through years of standing strong against invasion and war. With the constant threat to their sacred temple, the monks developed Kung Fu which has drawn followers the world over and has been used extensively in films such as The Matrix; Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon and Kill Bill. ‘The Wheel of Life’ draws on Kung Fu’s extraordinary conception and history as the monks draw the story of their temple and culture through beautifully choreographed fighting moves and feats of incredible stamina and physical endurance. With monks as young as 7 years old performing, the show highlights the monks’ fascinating ability to harness the energy around and within them to create an elevated level of consciousness and concentration and perform spectacular feats leaving audiences around the world amazed and inspired.
